Car Care Checklist

Did you know that the comfort and convenience your car offers you may be in jeopardy?

Weather we drive to work, conduct work on the road, taxi the kids to and from school and events, or simply enjoy the flexibility of running errands in our own car, we rely on our vehicle to be there when we need it, without fail.

With Fall just around the corner, it's important to have your car checked-over to help avoid the stress and inconvenience of being stranded road-side; especially during our long Canadian winters. The professionals at O2 Automotive have you and your family's best interest in mind and are committed to offering the best service at the fairest price.

TOP 5 REASONS FOR CAR BREAK DOWNS

1. Ignoring Warning lights and Unusual Sounds

Just like the "tickle" we feel in our throat before we get a cold, our car often tries to warn us when it isn't working well by using lights, bells, sounds and vibrations. Very often we hear or see these warnings long before our car breaks down.

4. Transmission and Brakes

Regular wear and tear on your car's transmission  can cause an unforeseen breakdown. Have your vehicle checked seasonally for cracks, damages, and leaks. If you see moisture underneath your car, have the fluids checked right away to avoid further damage. Regular oil and filter maintenance is the most economical way to avoid unwanted breakdown co$ts!
Brake pads and fluids should also be checked regularly.

2. Low or Dead Car Battery

One of the most common causes for breakdowns, a very low or dead battery can result in your car not starting. A quick fix suddenly turns into a large headache, towing costs and unnecessary disruption to your day. Don't be left in a snowdrift or alone in a parking garage.

5. Overheating and Electrical Mishaps

Electrical problems can present themselves in various ways. With today's new technology, an electrical problem can be caused by simple miscommunication in the car's system. Other things such as audio systems and add-ons, and battery wire connections can also result in roadside or start-up problems.
Overheating is prevented by regular check-ups on fluid levels. It is sometimes caused by clogs in the filter, failed thermostat or a leaking water pump.

3. Flat Tire

Here are a few tips to ensure your tires are in the best shape they can be: keep a tire gauge handy and check to be sure the pressure is within the tire's specified range, drop into a shop and have your tire tread checked periodically, and if you feel bumpy vibrations, head into the shop to have them checked - this could indicate a larger problem. Lastly, be sure you're using the right tires for the right season. New tires and instillation are available through O2 Automotive.
